SHILLONG, March 7 2017: As Meghalaya prepares to observe International Women’s Day on March 8, yet another dead body of a middle aged woman was found at Ishyrwat enroute to NEIGHRIMS this morning at around 5 am.

As police are yet to ascertain the actual cause of death, it is highly suspicious that the woman was raped and murdered.

The body was found early this morning by local villagers who immediately reported the same to the police. The  dead body is being taken to Shillong Civil Hospital for post mortem.

Local headman confirmed that the woman is not from around the area. While her identity is yet to be confirmed, police are probing further to ascertain the cause of death.

“We are investigating into the matter and the actual cause of death will be known only after we receive the post mortem report,” a police source said.
