Twin blasts rock Cheiraoba eve

Imphal, March 30 2017: Two powerful Improvised Explosive Devices exploded in different parts of the State on the eve of Sajibu Cheiraoba yesterday.

However, no was injured in the twin blasts. According to reports, the first explosion took place near a temple at Moreh Ward Number 2 .

Soon after the blast, a team of Moreh police rushed to the spot and enquired about the explosion.

A case has been registered in Moreh police station with regard to the incident.

The second blast was triggered near the residence of former Minister Bijoy Koijam at Thongju Pheija Loitong.

The bomb went off near an electric pole a few distance away from the residence.

On getting the information, a team of police arrived and enquired about the incident, the reports said.

Meanwhile, women folks of Thongju Pheija Leitong staged a sit-in-protest at Pheija Leitong community hall yesterday condemning the blast.

Speaking to newspersons, one of the women protesters said that such bomb blast triggered in residential areas is highly condemnable .

She asked those responsible for the blast to not repeat such act in future.

She also asked them to clarify why the act was carried out at the earliest.
