Ex DIG Found Dead in Jorhat

May 16, 2017: In a tragic incident, the dead body of a former deputy inspector general (DIG) of Assam was found from a drain at Kenduguri area of Jorhat on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Prabin Saikia, a former DIG in Assam police. Saikia had retired four years ago.

According to the information, Saikia was missing from Sunday night. On Sunday evening he went to Kenduguri to attend a bihu programme.

Meanwhile, the police informed, “The body has been sent for post-mortem and the cause of death could only be ascertained after the reports.”

It is to be mentioned here that, Prabin Saikia has served the state as deputy inspector general training, deputy inspector general of eastern range, and as SP and commandant of Assam Police battalion in several districts till his retirement as DIG in the year 2014.
