Three AR men hurt in IED explosion

Imphal, June 03 2017: Three Assam Rifles personnel including a JCO were wounded when an Improvised Explosive Device planted by suspected underground militants explo-ded in a place in between H Mongjang and S Khudeng-thabi, Tengnoupal district today at around 2.15 pm.

Chief Minister N Biren has strongly condemned the bomb blast and added that those involved in the blast will be punished as per the law of the land.

They have been identified as Subedar Sher Ram (JCO), Rifleman Sachin and Rifleman Basumatry.

Reports said the IED went off when a team of 11 AR (E Company) posted at S Khudengthabi was patrolling in the area.

The injured AR personnel were taken to Leimakhong Military Hospital using an army helicopter.

Soon after the blast, a team of Tengnoupal police and AR personnel rushed to the spot.

It may be mentioned that a committee headed by an ADGP was formed by an order of Additional Chief Secretary (Home) to probe the series of blast occurred along Indo-Myanmar border and Asian Highway 1 (NH-39) .

The committee consisting of police, army, AR, CRPF, BSF and SIB personnel was asked to submit a report on the blasts within 15 days.
