Ms Binalakshmi Nepram, Founder of Manipur Women Gun Survivors Network and CAFI talks to UN Women on "Indigenous Women Human Rights Defenders" at 17th United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Peoples Rights, 17 April 2018 held at UN Headquarters in New York. Ms Nepram starts her speech with a greeting in her native Manipuri language, "Khurumjari Mayambu" (meaning obeisance to all) and goes on to address the issues of ongoing conflicts in Manipur and Northeast India and challenges faced by women human rights defenders and called upon United Nations to take steps to mitigate the same. Ms Nepram is the first woman from Manipur in Northeast India to address the United Nations multiple times.
