39 Hideouts of Northeast Insurgent Groups in Bangladesh

The Border Coordination Conference of the Border Security Force (BSF)
and Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) concluded at Shillong on Thursday.
Head of the BSF delegation, IG Sudesh Kumar, raised the issue of Indian
insurgents taking shelter in Bangladesh. The BSF handed over a list of
39 hideouts of different Northeast insurgent outfits located in
Bangladesh.

The BSF also raised the issue of cross-border movement
of Bangladeshi nationals for committing crimes like theft, robbery,
poaching of natural resources etc inside Indian territory.

According
to a spokesman, the BSF also insisted that the BGB should check the
pumping of fake Indian currency notes from Bangladesh to India. Issues
relating to various developmental works, including the pending fencing
project, were also discussed during the conference. Quoting the joint
resolution inked on Thursday, the head of BGB delegation assured to take
appropriate action on all these issues. He informed that a number of
operations have already been carried out against Indian insurgent groups
in Bangladesh.

The BGB raised the issue of killing of Bangladeshi
nationals on the borders by Indian civilians. He also requested
logistic support from BSF for use of Indian roads to maintain and
construct BOPs at hilly and remote areas of the neighbouring country.
“All the discussions were held in a cordial atmosphere and both the
border guarding forces agreed to resolve the pending issues amicably.
The bond of friendship, trust and cooperation has strengthened after the
conference,” both sides said.
