Two hurt in blast

Imphal, February 11 2016:
Two non-local masons were reportedly injured in a powerful blast that
occurred near a bridge which is currently under construction at
Sawombung, in Imphal East district at around 7 pm today.

According
to a reliable source, the bomb is suspected to be an IED and it
exploded on the bank of Iril river near an under construction bridge.

The injured persons have been identified as Jabikal Islam (25) s/o Samsul Haque and Jahrudin (30) s/o Sultan Muhamud.

Both of them are from Kamrup Jabakali, Assam.

They are engaged in the construction of the bridge and they are staying in a makeshift camp built nearby.

Some portions of the temporary shed were also damaged in the blast.

Both the injured masons have been admitted at Raj Medicity.

Soon after the blast, a team of Imphal East police rushed to the spot and investigated the incident.
