IED planted at the residence of Assistant Professor

Imphal, February 13 2016 :
Unknown miscreants planted an IED (TNT cake) at the residence of
Assistant Professor of Lilong Haoreibi College, Md Islamuddin (60) s/o
(L) Haji Jumer Ali at Lilong Heinoumakhong under Lilong police station
today.

The bomb weighing around 500 grams was found fitted with a mobile phone, said a reliable source.

Family members informed Lilong police and 40 Assam Rifles after they came across the explosive in the morning.

Md Islamuddin’s residence is located along NH-2 (Imphal-Moreh road), one Kilometre to the north of Li-long P/S.

Soon after their arrival, police and AR personnel cordoned off the area and prevented entry of people to diffuse the bomb.

Later, a team of State bomb experts retrieved the IED at around 10.30 am.

It was disposed at Awaching Mairenkhul, Lilong ITI road at around 11.20 am.

Lilong police have also taken up a case regarding the incident.

It is suspected that the bomb was planted in connection with a monetary demand from a UG group, the source said.
