Blast rocks RIMS campus

Imphal, April 01 2016 : Some unidentified persons attacked RIMS Medical Superintendent Prof Dr Meisnam Amuba by hurling a hand grenade at his quarters located within RIMS campus, Lamphelpat tonight.

According to information culled from the spot, the grenade exploded at a garage beside the entrance gate leading to Prof Amuba’s quarters at around 7.15 pm.

Prof Amuba was at his quarters and a team of 4th IRB was guarding the quarters when the grenade exploded.

However, there is no report of any casualty.

The blast damaged bumper of a car (Maruti SX 4) apart from puncturing front and rear wheels of the left side.

One Honda Activa scooter and the GI sheet roof of the garage were also damaged.

Later, a team of Imphal West District Police came and visited the blast site.

It is suspected that the bomb attack was carried out in connection with monetary demand.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered at Lamphel police station.
