Militants Attacks Cash Van in Tinsukia, 1 Killed

One person was killed and two others were injured when suspected militants attacked a cash van in Tinsukia on Wednesday morning.

According
to information, the incident took place on Digboi-Pengeri road in oil
rich Upper Assam. A top police official said that suspected militants of
Paresh Baruah led ULFA (I) are behind the attack.

“The attack was
made on a tea garden pick up van which was going to domdooma police
station area to collect money for weekly salary of labourers,” said the
top police officials, adding, “In the attack, a civilian was killed on
the spot and two others, including a security guard, were injured.”

The
deceased person was identified as Abhijit Pau The driver of the van,
Thairul Alam Lashkar and police constable Jiten Kumar Singh were the
injured. Alam was hit by two bullets.

They rushed to Assam Medical
College Hospital (AMCH) in Dibrugarh. Top police and army officials
have also rushed to the area and launched operation to nab the
attackers.
