Woman testifies in daughter’s rape case

Imphal, January 17 2017: A mother of an alleged rape victim today gave her submission before the Special Court of POCSO Imphal East against her husband who allegedly raped his daughter.

The alleged accused (41) was brought from Sajiwa Central Jail and produced before the Court under session trial number 17 of 2016 .

The mother gave the submission as the complainant of the case.

The complainant’s statement was partly recorded on camera and fixed February 4 as the date for further hearing of the case.

It may be mentioned that the alleged rape was reported after the minor rape victim’s mother filed a written complaint in the Imphal East Women police station on September 19 last year.

In the written complaint, the victim’s mother alleged that her husband allegedly raped his daughter somewhere in Imphal East district.

The mother claimed that her husband allegedly raped his daughter while the former was at her younger brother’s residence to have dinner on September 10 at around 9 pm of last year.

The complainant also mentioned that her daughter had feared revealing the heinous crime as her father threatened to kill her if she revealed the incident to anyone.

According to the victim’s mother, the alleged accused had also raped and continously molested his daughter when they were staying at Kolkata in 2015 .

The alleged accused who is in judicial custody was posted as a Havaldar of Assam Regiment in Jharkhand.

He had visited Kolkata on leave for one month.
