Manipur: Nine injured in IED blast

Imphal, March 08 2017: At least nine people were wounded in a powerful IED blast carried out by unknown persons in front of Vikas Pharmacy at Kasturi Bridge under City police station today at around 5.55 pm.

Upper portion of the pharmacy and parts of adjoining shops were shattered in the explosion.

The injured persons have been identified as Dilip-kumar (26), Anil Kumar, 28, Dinesh Prasad Sahu (40) s/o Biswanath Sahu presently staying at Tilipati, Meera Roy (50) w/o (L) Bolai of Jiribam presently staying at Sagolband, Dolly Roy (29) w/o (L) Jontu Roy of Jiribam presently staying at Wahengbam Leikai, Khu-manthem Modhubala (34) w/o Kh Naobi of Khurai Nandeibam Leikai, Yum-nam Ibempishak (47) w/o Y Jiten of Thangmeiband Hi-jam Dewan Leikai, Yumnam Jiten (50) s/o (L) Shamu of Thangmeiband Hijam Dewan Leikai and Sapam Eros (44) s/o Ibohal of Kwakeithel Thokchom Leikai.

Of the injured, six persons were taken to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) while the remaining three were admitted to Chamber of Commerce Hospital for treatment.

Soon after the blast, a team of police headed by Additional SP (Operation) Imphal West rushed to the spot and enquired about the blast.

The blast site was cordoned and people were refrained from entering nearby the area.

A team of forensic expert also arrived and conducted inquest of the blast site.
