The Boder Security Force (BSF) claimed that over 3400 militants of both groups were infiltrated India from Bangladesh in past three years.
The intelligence wing of BSF had recently informed Assam police that around 3459 JMB and Huji militants had entered India through the bordering areas of Assam, Tripura and West Bengal during the period.
A top official of the BSF intelligence wing said that, in 2014, around 800 JMB and Huji militants had entered India.
“Among them, 300 militants had set up bases in Assam, while others set up their bases in different locations of Tripura and West Bengal. In 2015, 359 militants going to Tripura and 300 others entered in Assam and West Bengal,” the top official said.
The BSF intelligence wing also claimed that, the JMB and Huji infiltrators into India have been rising in 2016, with 2120 militants entered into India through the three bordering states.
“Among them, 600 militants entered in Assam, while 720 to West Bengal and 600 to Tripura,” the BSF official said.
Recently, the Bangladesh government warned the Union Home Ministry that, over 2000 JMB and Huji militants infiltrated India through Assam, Tripura and West Bengal.
Following the warning input received from Dhaka, the Union Home Ministry has sent warning messages to the home department of these three states and other states of North East India to take adequate measures and ordered the security agencies to launch massive operations in all suspicious locations.
Meanwhile, a top level meeting was held in Guwahati regarding the matter in presence of Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Assam DGP Mukesh Sahay, Special DG of Assam police Kula Saikia and other security agencies officials.
“We are very concern about it and ordered Assam police and other security agencies to take appropriate measures,” Assam CM said.
On the other hand, a top official of Assam police said that, the militants entered Assam through the porous border with Bangladesh and riverine areas.
“We have looked the issue from all angles as these militants linked with the Islamic States,” the top Assam cops said.
Dhaka told the Union Home Ministry that JMB secretary Sajjad Hussain alias Iftadur Rehman was entered India on January 12 last with a fake passport and met other jihadis in Bengal and Assam.
Following the Budwan blast in October 2014, Assam police had arrested at least 54 JMB members from different parts of the state.
Recently, security forces had arrested two suspected Islamic States terrorists from Moreh area in Manipur, a bordering town with Myanmar and another suspected ISIS terrorist from Agartala in Tripura.
India sharing a 4,096-kilometer (2,545-mile) long border with Bangladesh, including 262 km in Assam, 856 km in Tripura, 180 km in Mizoram, 443 km in Meghalaya and 2,217 km in West Bengal.
