GUWAHATI, March 24 – A peace rally was organised earlier this week at Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh by the students from Northeastern States studying at Banaras Hindu University (BHU) against recent incidents of “racist attacks” on students and youths from the region at various places across the country.

The participants highlighted the recent case of Higio Gungtey of Arunachal who had faced racial discrimination at Bengaluru recently. More than a hundred students from NE participated in the rally, according to a statement issued by NE Students Society of BHU.
