The girl who hails from Churachandpur district was later handed over to Childline Imphal West and again to Child Welfare Committee for proper verification.
According to sources, the girl was rescued after she was seen in a suspicious manner at the airport by personnel of Anti-Human Trafficking Unit, who checked her Aadhaar card and flight ticket of Indigo Airlines.
While checking, the girl snatched her Aadhaar card and refused to prove her identity.
The sources said the girl was suspected to be trafficked to Pune through an Indigo flight via Kolkata.
It may be mentioned that Anti-Human Trafficking Unit of Manipur Police had rescued at least 10 suspected human trafficking victims mostly underaged from the airport in the past one month.
They were detained and rescued from the airport based on their suspicious appearance and inconsistency of documents.
They were suspected to be taken to different parts of the country.
Most of them possessed forged Aadhaar card and other identification documents.
It is learnt that the trafficking victims were Myanmar Nationalists and some of the victims’ relatives were staying in Churachandpur.
They were sent back to their native places on March 30 by Child Welfare Committee and various civil society organisations after proper counselling.
