Meghalaya | Assam resident shot at by extortionists in SGH

Tura, Oct 27, 2017: In a unfortunate incident, a man hailing from Bilasipara in Assam was found lying in a pool of blood after being shot at by unidentified miscreants last evening allegedly when he went looking for work near the village of Komila Bagan near Nongalbibra in South Garo Hills.

According to the police, Kamirul Islam had gone to the village at around 11 am when he came across 5 unidentified persons, including a non Garo man with a pistol.

“He said that he was demanded money by the men and when he could not pay, he was shot in the thigh. He was immediately brought to the Patalgittim PHC by some good Samaritans who found him lying on the road in a serious condition in a makeshift stretcher,” said South Garo Hills SP, Abraham T Sangma.

The victim after being brought to the PHC was later transferred to Guwahati as he had lost a lot of blood, by his family members who reached the spot this morning.
