RPF claims success against Security Forces

Claiming success of various offensives against Indian security forces under “Operation Jackal” launched by its armed wing People’s Liberation Army (PLA), the proscribed Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF) alleged Indian security forces of covering up casualties inflicted on its soldiers.

An RPF statement issued by Roben Khuman, secretary publicity said PLA cadres launched a bomb attack against troops of the 16 Assam Rifles on December 23 who were out on Mahadev-Litan road in Ukhrul district to sabotage Christmas celebration.

One Assam Rifles personnel was killed in the attack, the RPF statement claimed and added that another bomb attack was launched on the next day against 49 BSF D-Coy in between Nongren and Nongpok Kakching.

On December 31 too, PLA fighters attacked 24 AR troopers near Kotha village in Chandel district wherein two AR personnel were killed while some others suffered injuries, the RPF statement said and maintained that PLA has been fighting Indian security forces and will continue to fight till Indian forces pull back from Manipur and people regain their sovereign status.

While stating that PLA fighters never intentionally targets state forces, the RPF statement expressed hope that Manipuris serving in state forces will support outfit’s movement to restore people’s freedom status.

Reminding once again of various offensives the PLA fighters had launched against Indian security forces during the year 2014, the RPF statement mention gun battle against 21 AR on January 26 at Sajik Tampak. It also mention February 8 gun battle against 44AR at Ningchou village near Kamjong area in Ukhrul district, March 11 attack upon a convoy of CO 24AR near Kambang Khullen village in Chandel district, attack upon 1/11GR troopers on April 4 at Zou Khunom in Churachandpur district. Mentioning other notable offensives during the year, the outfit recalled the May 14 attack against 25 Madras Regiment at Taikotang village under Singhat subdivision in

Churachandpur district and attack upon 44 AR at Kangpat Khullen under Kamjong subdivision in Ukhrul district.

Under the “Operation Leopard” different units of PLA launched several successful offensives against Indian forces and under “Operation Blue Eagle” on December 21, the 26 AR unit at Behiang in Churchandpur District was attacked by a Special Warefare Unit of PLA, the RPF statement claimed.
