This led to the two opening fire on the woman, injuring her in the leg.
Her husband, who was in the house, ran for his life with the two miscreants on pursuit. He managed to reach the Bajengdoba PS and alerted the police. One Singtom Ch Marak (54) who helped the husband escape was later assaulted by the two armed men.
The police have registered a case and the injured persons were taken to Bajengdoba PHC after which the two were referred to Goalpara for further treatment. SP of NGH, JFK Marak confirmed the incident, “The attack was due to the woman practising witchcraft”.
