3 BSF personnel injured in twin blasts

Imphal, February 08 2015: Three personnel of 49th Border Security Force (BSF) including a Sub-Inspector were injured in twin bomb blasts at Napet Palli Kharban Thongkhong under Lamlai Police Station in Imphal District on Sunday morning.

According to police sources, a Road Opening Party (ROP) of the BSF led by a Sub-Inspector was patrolling in Napet Palli area at around 6.40 am when a sniffer dog accompanying the team detected objects suspected to be explosives near a bridge.

The blasts occurred soon after the dog left behind the spot.

Three BSF personnel identified as Sub-Inspector Jay Bhagawan (48) from Haryana, Constable Suman Ghosh (35) from West Bengal and Constable Gourilal (34) from Uttar Pradesh, were injured in the blast.

They were rushed to RIMS Hospital for treatment.

The condition of Constable Suman Ghosh was stated to be critical.

Meanwhile, six employees of an oil pump were pulled up for questioning from Napet Palli area during a search operation conducted jointly by Imphal East Police Commandos and BSF personnel in the aftermath of the blasts.
