2 IEDs explode, 1 hurt

Imphal, October 15 2015 : One youngster sustained injuries when two IEDs exploded almost simultaneously on a road between Tiger Camp and Pangaltabi, Imphal East district under Sagolmang police station at around 9.30 am today.

Moreover, another IED has been recovered.

On discovery of bomb like substances, local people informed and police soon cordoned off the area blocking movement of vehicles on either side of the road.

In the meantime, two IEDs exploded almost simultaneously.

Soon Imphal East District Police and troops of 16 Assam Rifles moved into the area.

On searching the area, another IED was recovered by a bomb disposal squad of Manipur Police.

The injured victim has been identified as one Md Abir Khan (22) s/o Jamir of Pangaltabi.

He was hit by splinters on the right hand.

He was taken to Sagolmang CHC and his injury was said to be of minor nature.

Later, local people staged a protest demonstration at Tiger Camp community hall against the twin blast.

It was speculated that the IEDs were set off using timer devices and they might have weighed between 1.5 and 2 Kgs.

The third explosive which was detected by the bomb disposal squad was set off safely at the foothill of Tiger Camp in the afternoon.

A case has been registered at Sagolmang police station in connection with the twin blast, informed a source.
