Minor allegedly raped

Imphal, February 16 2016: A six-year-old minor girl has been allegedly raped by a 14-year-old boy at a village in Bishnupur district last night.

The Rongmei Lu Phuam (A,M and N) has strongly condemned the rape of the minor.

The girl went missing from the house of one of her relatives at around 6 pm, said a source.

Even as her relatives were searching for her, the girl returned home in an extremely terrified state after around two hours.

Her relatives found the traumatised girl hiding behind a door in their house.

They came to know later that the minor girl had received injuries on her private parts.

The girl was immediately rushed to RIMS hospital for treatment.

After getting information about the incident, Bishnupur women police station took up swift action and detained a juvenile suspect from the same village.

Medical examinations of both the girl and suspect have been conducted at RIMS’ Department of Forensic Medicine today.

Police have detained the juvenile accused at a Correctional Centre.

Meanwhile the Rongmei Lu Phuam (A,M and N) has demanded that the accused be taken out from the juvenile home and sent to jail.

The Rongmei Lu Phuam has also appealed to all civil society organisations, NGOs, human rights activists and the State Government to extend support to the minor victim who is fighting for her life at RIMS.recovered a country-made gun from them.

They were produced before Judicial Magistrate  3, Vellore and remanded.
