NSCN-U Cadre Dies in Battle with Assam Rifles

A member of the Nationalist Socialist Council of Nagaland
(Unification) was killed in a gun battle with the Assam Rifles in
Nagaland on Sunday.

According to informed sources, the incident
happened around 5.30 a.m. near Okotso village in Wokha district. The
NSCN (Unification), like the NSCN (Reformation) and the NSCN
(Isak-Muivah), has signed a ceasefire pact with the Indian government.

In
2014, the NSCN (Khaplang) had abrogated the 14-year-long ceasefire. A
leader of the NSCN (Unification) told IANS: “Ask the Indian Army which
abrogated the ceasefire this morning. Yes, there was a heavy exchange of
gun fire near Okotso village.”

The ceasefire agreement between New Delhi and the NSCN (Unification) and NSCN (Reformation) is renewed every year in April.
