Imphal, November 20 2016:
A 32 year old man was killed when a bomb exploded on the road median in
front of UCO Bank, Singjamei Chingamathak at around 8.10 am today.
The deceased has been identified as Vinod Rai s/o Ramkishore from Muzzafarpur, Bihar.
He was said to be working at a shop dealing in scrap metals.
Information
culled from the spot said that the bomb was suspected to be an IED and
it exploded moments after an Assam Rifles vehicle passed by.
Vinod Rai was warming himself beside a fire in front of a cement shop when the bomb exploded all of a sudden.
He suffered fatal injuries on the head.
Even
as Imphal West Additional SPs S Ibomcha and Vikramjit inspected the
blast site, AR troops stationed at Chingamathak post conducted a search
operation around the blast side.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased victim has been deposited at RIMS mortuary.
Meanwhile
three security personnel sustained injuries when three hand grenades
exploded inside M-Sector and AIR Imphal complexes today.
Some unidentified persons hurled a grenade at around 5.30 pm today at M Sector.
It
landed and exploded near a sentry post of the northern wall and it
injured one AR personnel identified as DK Rai (36) from Assam.
One
AR personnel was on duty at the sentry post and a personnel of 109 CRPF
assigned to guard Raj Bhavan was also on duty outside when the grenade
exploded.
It is suspected that the grenade was lobbed from the road which passes between M-Sector and Johnstone Higher Secondary School.
Notably, M-Sector houses offices of the PIB(DW) PRO and military intelligence officers.
A man who was walking nearby when the grenade exploded was pulled up for questioning.
In the meantime, two hand grenades exploded at the North Eastern corner of AIR Imphal complex at around 5.14 pm.
The twin blasts left two personnel of 132 CRPF injured.
They were among the CRPF troops stationed there to guard the AIR complex.
The two hand grenades exploded near a barrack occupied by CRPF personnel.
Some window panes of the barrack were also damaged by the impact of the blasts.
Meanwhile,
AIR Imphal Station Director Dillip Mayengbam has appealed to all
concerned to refrain from undertaking such violent attacks at the
station which is dedicated to dissemination of information and news to
the public round the clock.
