Agartala | Monday, Mar 27 2017: A 22year-old youth was arrested for killing a minor girl after committing rape on previous night at Padmapur village of Dharmanagar in North Tripura.Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Jyotisman Daschaudhuri said the accused committed the crime last night and confessed during the interrogation where he disclosed some important evidences, including the SIM card, of the victim.He was produced in a local court and sent to police remand for further investigation.Police said, the investigation revealed that the victim was a student of class IX had called up the accused Rajat Tanti (22), and boozed together in the road side near a temple. The girl identified as Bina Dey (16), consumed raw liquor and started vomiting and after sometime she fainted.”She pulled out my gold ring and wore on her finger before she was fainted. I tried to regain her sense but she was not responding for long time. Then I strangled her to death apprehending future complications,” Tanti told police.According to police, Rajat had informed the police about the body lying on a pool of blood in an abandoned toilet in the village last night. Meantime, police was informed about the missing of Bina from the house at the evening.Police found Rajat along with others at the spot in intoxicated condition. Police detained him immediately. Police got some calls for releasing Rajat, claiming that he was not involved in the case. Rajat’s mother is a leader of women wing of ruling CPI-M.According to statement of victim’s father Bidyut Dey, daughter went out in the evening but till night she did not return home. At about 12 midnight, a phone call came that the dead body of his daughter was found at Padmapur.Initially, Rajat gave a statement that he was going through this lane and he has seen the legs of girl in the damaged bathroom. Police has detained Rajat for investigating the case. Rajat accepted that he is the murderer and they have close relation.
