Ukhrul, March 27 2017: An IED was found planted on the Ukhrul-Imphal road near the abandoned cement factory at Hundung, Ukhrul.
According to the police, the IED was detected by AR sniffer dogs while the troops were on ROP duty at the highway around 8 am today.
On immediate receipt of the report Ukhrul police team led by SI W Marjang rushed to the site.
The police and AR personnel first secured site with sand bags until a bomb squad team from Imphal arrived at the spot.
Vehicular movement was stopped for a few hours on the Ukhrul- Imphal highway.
Free movement of vehicles was allowed only after the security personnel secured the site.
Later, at around 5 pm, the police bomb squad & AR bomb experts detonated the IED weighing about 1 kg kept in a steel container.
