Alleged molestation of minor girl

Imphal, May 09 2017: In yet another instance of the rampant crime against women in the State, a 13-year-old girl was allegedly molested by a man in Thoubal district.

Narrating the incident during a press meet held at Manipur Press Club this evening, the victim’s aunty alleged that the minor girl was allegedly molested by a man identified as Longjam Panky (25) s/o Chaoba of Thoubal Khunou on May 4 afternoon.

She claimed that Panky allegedly molested the girl two times with the first one committed three months back.

She said that the incident came to light after the girl narrated the ordeal to her grandmother.

Nothing was disclosed about the first incident of molestation but a complaint was filed in Thoubal police station on May 5 after the man committed the heinous act again, she said.

As per the instruction of police, medical examination of the girl was conducted in RIMS on May 5 itself, she continued.

Alleging that the culprit is absconding, she lamented the fear psychosis being experienced by the girl following the molestation.

The minor girl has also been refusing to go to school, she regretted.

Taking strong exception to the incident, she urged the authority concerned to nab the culprit and punish him in accordance to the law.

The victim who was present at the press meet alleged that she was dragged by the man and then allegedly molested her.

She also admitted that the man had also allegedly molested her three months back.
