Three hurt in Dimapur blast

Dimapur, May 29 2017: Three persons were critically injured when a grenade that was hurled at a chemist shop in the heart of Dimapur town exploded this evening.

Reports said that the conditions of the three injured are critical.

They have been evacuated to Civil Hospital in Dimapur.

Reports said that some unidentified persons hurled a grenade at Ideal Chemist at Church Road in the heart of Dimapur around 7 pm.

The reports said that that impact of the blast was so strong that the shelves of the shop were damaged.

According to the reports, a customer and two salesmen of the chemist shop were injured by the splinters of the explosives.

The identities of the injured are yet to be confirmed.

Sources said that the incident could be related to “tax” issue.

The incident was suspected by the police to be carried out by one of the Naga underground outfits.

It is worthwhile to note that crime rate in the Nagaland commercial hub, Dimapur is fast going up in the past few months.

Two weeks ago, a cadre from a Naga underground group was shot dead in broad daylight in Dimapur by his colleague.

The reason for the crime was not ascertained.

Also, not long ago a man was found shot dead near the Deputy Commissioner office, Dimapur.

The reason and the culprits could not be identified in that case too.

Naga outfits often fight to dominate the Nagaland commercial hub, Dimapur.

The presence of most of the Naga outfits is felt in Dimapur these days.

The NSCN/GPRN has strongly condemned the blast.
