Security forces strike it rich with six UGs arrest

A team of Imphal East police commando conducted search operation and
arrested two active members of PREPAK identified as Brahmacharimayum
Goro Sharma alias Bobbysand (34) s/ o (L) B Singhajit Sharma of Kongpal
Khaidem Leikai and Mangdengbam Shamu Singh (50) s/o (L) M Kala Singh of
Kongpal Kongkham Leikai on January 13. Investigation revealed that they
were involved in extortion of money from general public, private firms,
Government offices and contractors etc. Incriminating articles were
seized from their possession. A case has been registered at Porompat PS
and investigation is going on, according to a statement issued by the
PRO of police department. On the other hand, a team of Imphal West
police commando conducted cordon and search operation and arrested two
active members of PLA/ RPF identified as Keisham Chandrakumar Singh
alias Jila (58) s/o K Ibohanbi Singh of Porompat Thawanthaba Leikai at
present Kongba Nongthongbam Leikai and Chungkham Motilal Singh (50) s/o
(L) Ch Shyam Singh of Nongmei Pung Makhong yesterday. Investigation
revealed that, Chungkham Motilal Singh had made monetary demands and
collected huge amount of money from different government offices in the
name of PLA/RPF. Incriminating articles were seized from their
possession. A case has been registered at Singjamei PS and investigation
is going on, according to a statement issued by the PRO of police
department. Meanwhile, troops of Jwalamukhi Battalion under Senapati
Brigade of Red Shield Division apprehended two hardcore militants of
NSCN (K) in an operation carried out on Jan 12 from Daili village of
Senapati district, a statement issued by the PRO, Defence, Imphal said.
The militants were identified as Number 17326 SS Lt Lamang Kipgen (36)
s/o Seipao Kipgen of Lilen village, Peren district, (Nagaland) and
Seminlal Kipgen (23) s/o Jangsat Kipgen of Langjol, Senapati district.
They were apprehended along with one 9mm pistol and five live rounds of
9mm. On questioning, SS Lt Lamang Kipgen revealed that he is a top
leader of the NSCN (K) and had joined the outfit in 1996. He is said to
be trained in Athibung in the second batch and has been involved in
recruiting numerous cadres for the outfit in the past, the statement
said. He revealed that he had recruited Seminlal Kipgen two months back
who is presently performing the duties of his body guard. He further
confessed of absconding from Nagaland to avoid arrest by security forces
and arrived in Manipur to carry out recruitment for the organisation.
He also confessed that he was planning to strike against Security
Forces. The apprehended militants along with recoveries were handed over
to Police for further investigations, it said.
