Minor raped, Manipur

Imphal, May 03 2017: A class VIII student was allegedly raped by one RK Ajitsana of Sugnu Makha Mamang Leikai under Sugnu police station, reports our correspondent.

According to a source, the accused, who is in his sixties, allegedly raped the minor girl numerous times by threatening to kill her younger brother.

After learning about the incident, the victim’s family along with enraged locals stormed and began destroying the residence of RK Ajitsana who was later pulled up by Sugnu police and handed over to Thoubal district women police cell.

He was produced before Special Judge POCSO Thoubal today and further remanded to seven days in police custody, it added, it stated that the accused was pulled up by the police after the mother of the victim filed a complaint at Sugnu police station claiming that the individual had raped her daughter after threatening dire consequences if she re- sisted.

According to the source, the victim’s family members, volunteers of various meira paibi lups of Thoubal district and volunteers of KSA Thoubal District Council shouted for justice and strict actions against the culprit as the accused was produced at the Court today.

The KSA Thoubal District Council secretary Thoiba Laishram also demanded stringent punishment for the accused and added that the association would offer every possible support to the vic- tim’s family.
